When to Use A Water Flosser in Your Regimen – Which Order is Best

Is it better to use a Water Flosser before you brush and floss or after?  I haven’t seen a lot of information about this online, so it was up to me to figure it out by experience.  During the past few years, I tried it several ways and eventually settled on the order that works best for me.  It would be interesting to know whether there’s scientific information one way or the other, but for now, these are my personal experiences and preferences.

The best times to check whether it’s working is after a long road trip or if you’ve been camping off-the-grid for a while, when your teeth feel a bit “furry” as one person I know would describe them.  That way, you can really feel the difference.  Of course, I like to keep my teeth clean, so it took m a while to get through all of the testing.  Given that as a starting point, I’ll talk about each method below and you can decide for yourself!

Method 1: Water Flosser, Toothbrush, then String Floss

The advantage of this is that you can wash away some of the bigger particles right away, especially from between your teeth.  Once you get to brushing and flossing, should be less grime in your mouth, if everything works as it should.  Then once you brush and floss, everything should be really clean.  For me though, I found this to be my least favorite method.

The issue I kept running into is that the biofilm never seemed to be fully penetrated by the water flosser alone.  Don’t get me wrong, it did seem to help and it felt much better than not using it, but felt sure I could detect more residue this way than the others.

Method 2: String Floss, Toothbrush, then Water Flosser

This method is a little bit better.  My impression was that flossing and brushing loosened biofilm and debris, then the water flosser washed it away at the end.  I like the way my mouth was left feeling more fresh than the first method, so I felt better about this way.  There was only one downside.

I suspect (but can’t prove) that there’s a reason that people don’t like to use string floss.  My theory is that people don’t like the gross possibility of odors and bleeding that string flossing can produce.  Plus, it’s not the most comfortable.  However, finishing with string floss doesn’t let you get all of the material completely out of your mouth.  It’s quite a quandry.  A lot of people are less than joyful about string flossing and – as dentists would say – compliance is low.

So, with this method, you start off with the grossest feeling in dental hygiene, that of loosening debris from between your teeth.  I don’t know about you, but this is hard for me – even for just a few minutes.  I can’t stand the feeling of it!  The end result is good, but getting there is cringe-worthy.

Method 3: Brush, String Floss, then Water Flosser

This is my favorite method and it answers the issues posed by the other methods above.  First, you start by loosening gunk from your teeth in the presence of your favorite flavor of toothpaste.  For me, that would produce a minty or sometimes I’ll choose a cinnamon flavor.  With that first rinse, my mouth already feels mostly clean, but I know the job is not done yet.

Then I move to my second step, string flossing.  At this stage, the string mechanically loosens biofilm and debris between my teeth.  I’ve noticed that if I brush first, end up with less smelly stuff on my floss.  Odor and/or bleeding are often reduced, if present.  This alone makes this method worth it to me.

Finally, I finish with a thorough session with my water flosser, moving slowly over the areas I previously brushed and flossed.  If I encounter problems in the brushing and flossing steps, I might even add some mouthwash or a small amount of hydrogen peroxide to the water.

What I’ve noticed is that the loosened gunk seems to come out from between teeth much easier than if I wouldn’t have brushed and flossed first.  I’m then able to focus more on getting deeper between teeth and under the gumline where brushing and flossing can’t reach.  There’s no better feeling than to see additional debris flow out of your mouth after most people would have ended their dental hygiene regimen.

Conclusion: The Best Way to Include a Water Flosser

After all is said and done, when to add water flossing into your own dental hygiene routine may be a matter of personal preference.  It would be interesting to learn whether there’s any evidence to back up my thoughts on the subject, but for me, I will continue to start with brushing, move on to string flossing, and finish with water flossing.  I’ve found this to be my preferred way to keep my mouth feeling fresh and clean.  Let me know what you think whether you agree or whether you think there’s a better way!

The Truth About Water Flossers and Biofilm

One of the biggest questions about water flossers is “Do they really work?” Can oral irrigation reduce biofilm? How could you tell if it was really doing the job? If you’ve been around this topic for long, you know that the biggest enemy to dental health is biofilm. It fills our saliva, coats our teeth, and inhabits the spaces between our teeth. All the while, the bacteria in the biofilm constantly wear away at tooth enamel and damage gum tissues. Reducing biofilm is a constant battle, not just after sugary snack.

A group of researchers decided to find out how well a water flossers could reduce biofilm by studying how it would do on real teeth. Researchers obtained eight extracted teeth from a patient who had dental problems so advanced that several teeth had to be removed. They also made a culture of biofilm from saliva. They divided the teeth into thin slices so that they could study the results under an electron microscope and dipped them for four days in the biofilm from the saliva. For the test, they used a WaterPik water flosser and tried to of the tips – the classic tip and the orthodontic tip.

The starting picture under the electron microscope shows that the biofilm completely coated the teeth. You couldn’t even see any of the tooth surface below the biofilm in the before picture – that’s how extensive it was. Just looking at the before picture made me want to brush my teeth! It looked more like a carpet than anything I would want in my mouth.

Before:

Tooth Covered with Biofilm
The before picture of the tooth slice covered with biofilm is shocking and disgusting!

Then, they blasted the teeth using the WaterPik for just three seconds, which seems like a short amount of time. What they found was absolutely amazing and should be no surprise to fans of water flossers out there. The WaterPik got rid of over 99% of the biofilm so that you couldn’t even see that it had been there! The type of tip used didn’t matter much, it seemed like the pulsing action of the water was what did the trick.  Even more interesting, was when you could see that on some of the tooth slices, it looks like the researchers missed a few spots.  You could see a stark difference between the treated areas that had no visible biofilm and a few spots of the grossest looking junk still stuck to the tooth.

After:

Biofilm reduced by 99.99% using a water flosser
Biofilm removed from a tooth using a Waterpik classic tip for 3 seconds.

Finding this research made me absolutely convinced that I’m on the right track by incorporating oral irrigation into my dental health routine – and motivated me to continue. Even before reading the research, I already felt a cleaner feeling in my mouth that made it all worth it. Seeing the stunning before and after pictures in this study showing how much biofilm was removed from the teeth convinces me that water flossing is definitely worth the extra few minutes of my time!

How I Got Into Water Flossing

I got into water flossing because of curiosity — I wanted to see and feel whether it actually works!  For most of my life, I’ve never used any type of dental device besides a standard toothbrush and string floss.  I’d tried a variety of toothpastes ranging from the old Aqua Fresh triple action to various whitening toothpastes, and I’d tried everything from waxed to Glide floss.  It really wasn’t something I spent a lot of time thinking about.  In retrospect, I wish I had known more at the time (don’t we all?).

A couple of friends of mine are true Costco fans.  They love going to Costco, buying Costco food – even talking about what they found at Costco.  One of the things they talked about is their Sonicare tooth brush and how they liked what it did for their teeth.  I have to admit I was a bit skeptical.  After all, why do you need your toothbrush to buzz – why can’t you just brush your teeth like a normal person?  Still, they swore by it and to this day, they still use electric toothbrushes.

Fast forward a few years, my mother-in-law lived with us for a time and the subject of a Waterpik came up.  She said she liked it and so I thought, “Why not?”  When she brought her Waterpik out, it was one of the older models.  As far as I knew, it looked like it was from decades ago.  I plugged it in and it started doing its job – shooting a stream of water from its jet tip.  The only problem was I didn’t have it in my mouth at the time, so it started spraying everywhere!  So, I unplugged it.  I tried again with it in my mouth, but wasn’t to sure what to do at that point and she didn’t really give me a clear answer.  I tried briefly to figure it out myself, but wasn’t too committed to figuring out how to use a water flosser at the time, so I put the idea on hold.

Later, I started to read some reviews about oral irrigators and the idea of trying it came up again.  This time, I bought a Waterpik Aquarius and was determined to get it right.  The difference this time is that I watched some instructional videos which showed exactly how people use it and what the pulsing stream of water is supposed to do.  Finding out how effective a water flosser can be made me more intrigued than ever to try it.

Once I did, I was pleasantly surprised and wondered why I had waited so long.  I started slowly at first, with the pressure setting at one of the lower settings, trying the standard flossing tip, and trying to get the angle right.  I realized right away that it the water jet was getting into areas that I simply could not reach with my regular brushing and flossing habits.

As I started to get used to my Waterpik, I realized that my teeth and gums felt cleaner.  If I had eaten certain foods, like popcorn, it was easier to get all of the debris out — water flossing after brushing and flossing proved that to me.  In the past, I would have not known that there was still more between my teeth.  Now, I have seen that brushing and flossing removes a lot and loosens some.  I’ve found that following up with a water flosser rinses more out.

So now, after years of manual dental care, I’m convinced that oral irrigation is an important part of my hygiene habits.  I don’t plan on going back to just brushing and flossing alone now that I can see how much a water flosser can do.  Like most everyone, I want to have fresh breath and a healthy smile for life.  For me, a water flosser is part of the answer.

The main benefits are the all-in-one approach of this water flosser.  The thing that sets the Jetpik Power Floss system unique is its combination of so many features in such a compact, travel-ready package.

Who is the Jetpik Power Floss Water Flosser System intended for?

The Jetpik is for everyone.  It is especially designed for those who want a compact all-in-one travel-friendly water flossing system.  The other big feature is the fact that it goes beyond normal water flossers by including a power dental flosser within the stream of the water flosser.  The dental floss cycles in and out of the water flosser tip within the water stream to get in between teeth and behind dental appliances.  The Jetpik JP200 Elite becomes a complete dental care system with the addition of a sonic toothbrush and tongue scraper.

What are the health benefits of the Jetpik Elite Power Floss System?

Most oral irrigators don’t include this feature, but the Jetpik adds dental floss to the water flosser stream.  The Jetpik accomplishes this by inserting a floss cartridge into the bottom of the water flosser tip.  When you’re using the water flosser, the dental floss cartridge releases the floss (which seems to be similar to Glide-type floss).  If you look closely, you can see floss quickly pulsing out and back into the tip.  The intent of this flossing action is to directly, but gently, use friction to dislodge foreign material, remove biofilm, and flush away bacteria.  This includes cleaning below the gumline as well as between teeth.  According to manufacturer studies, the Jetpik is twice as effective as water flossing alone.  Jetpik also offers a guarantee: experience cleaner teeth in seven days or receive a full refund of the purchase price.

What sets the Jetpik Elite Power Water Flosser Apart?

The Jetpik design is made for versatility and portability.  People who would be most likely to purchase the Jetpik will be those who want it all — an oral irrigator, a power flosser, a sonic toothbrush, and a tongue scraper, all in an innovative, travel-friendly package.   There aren’t many water flossers which can include so many features in a design that can fit in a handy travel case measuring less than 7 inches long.  Also, the engineers found an innovative solution to the small reservoir problem that plagues many portable water flossers.  They designed it with a tube that can attach to any glass you may encounter.  It’s entirely possible for you to put the glass under the faucet, turn the tap on to a slow trickle, and enjoy a completely uninterrupted water flossing experience!  The water reservoir included with the Jetpik reduces clutter by coiling the water tube in its base.

Along with everything else, you will receive three color coded flosser tips, ten flosser cartridges, and two toothbrush heads. Jetpik recommends that floss cartridges be replaced every other week.  To make this more convenient, they made available a one year supply of floss cartridges and toothbrush heads.

Another great option is the UV sanitizer.  Although it’s a small additional investment, it’s great knowing that your dental tools will be bacteria-free after 10 minutes of UV light.  At the time of the review, it is not available separately.  You can get it by purchasing the Jetpik Ultra Power Floss System.

How User-Friendly is the Jetpik Water Flosser?

The Jetpik is very easy to use.  Simply plug it in, fill the reservoir, and go.   When you’re ready to use the sonic toothbrush, simply press the release button at the top of the handle, pop out the water flosser tip, and insert the toothbrush head.  For the water flosser, there’s an pressure slider on the back of the handle which will adjust the water stream from 30-70 PSI.

According to the directions, the Jetpik JP200 Elite power toothbrush should have three settings which are selectable by pressing the power button to cycle through high, low, and high-low pulse modes.  However, we were only able to get the highest power setting to work.  Pressing the power button again simply turned the unit off.  We researched it and the manufacturer states that the instructions are in error, so it looks like there will only be one power mode going forward.  This feature would’ve been nice to have, especially for people new to power brushing who are not prepared for full strength vibrations to their teeth.

The newer version released in September 2015 includes: a 2 minutes timer function (the brush tip will generate a special 3 short pauses of the brush vibration to let the user know that 2 minutes brushing have elapsed) and the reservoir cup will include a lid so that all accessories can be secured inside.  We feel that a timer is essential, so this is a welcome addition to the system.

How do customers feel about the Jetpik Elite Power Floss System?

Most people simply rave about their Jetpik.  Although it’s new to the market, Amazon users rate it at above 4 stars out of 5.  There are a few complaints, but there doesn’t seem to be a clear pattern that indicates a problem.  Overall, most people give it a 5 out of 5.  As for this review, we would rate it as a 4 out of 5 stars.

The water flossing experience was satisfactory and quite vigorous compared to other water flossers we’ve reviewed.  The pressure settings did not seem to affect this feeling appreciably, so it could be the addition of the dental floss that we’re feeling.   The sonic toothbrush performed well for a combo unit.  For Sonicare Healthywhite veterans, the toothbrush felt like it was at a lower amplitude (the brushstrokes didn’t travel as far side to side).  However, you could definitely feel the vibrations working to clean your teeth.  Multiple sonic toothbrush settings were missed opportunities.  A timer was added in September 2015.

Pros:
All-in-one, travel-ready designPulsating dental floss adds another layer of cleaning
Innovative reservoir design and accessories management
USB power cord and induction base provide versatility
Shared handle for power toothbrush, water flosser, and power flosser

Cons:
No timer (updated to include timer in Sept 2015)
Only one power setting in sonic toothbrush mode
Consumable items may be a barrier for some customers

Overall, we consider the Jetpik system to be a worthwhile investment in your dental health, whether you go with the JP50 Elite without a sonic toothbrush, JP50 Ultra (with the UV sanitizer), JP200 Elite, or the JP200 Ultra (with the UV sanitizer).

Waterpik WP-660 Aquarius Review

**OUR TOP PICK AND #1 BEST SELLING WATER FLOSSER**

Struggling with string floss is one of the most frustrating parts of oral hygiene – you never seem to rip off the right amount, your fingers aren’t nimble enough to reach the back corners of your mouth, you’re not really sure if you are doing it properly, and heaven help you if you have braces or some other form of orthodontia! The Waterpik Aquarius Professional Water Flosser is a high-tech and effective replacement for string floss – every component of this product has been designed for ease-of-use and effective plaque removal. Who is the Waterpik Aquarius Professional Water Flosser Intended For?

This professional water flosser can definitely be used by anyone – its exceptional ability to remove plaque and maintain gum health is something that everyone can benefit from. However, its ability to work around areas that are hard to reach with traditional flossing methods make it an ideal solution for those struggling to keep braces, permanent wire retainers, implants, or crowns clean.

What are the health benefits of using the Waterpik Aquarius Professional Water Flosser?

Numerous health benefits come from using the Waterpik regularly. Aside from your mouth feeling incredibly clean, the makers also guarantee that you will experience healthier gums within 14 days of use. As well, the Waterpik is shown to be far more effective at removing plaque and bacteria from hard-to-reach places, such as under the gumline, around braces, or between teeth than string floss.

What sets the Waterpik Aquarius Professional Water Flosser Apart?

Not all water flossers can boast the level of individual customization that the Waterpik Aquarius can. This model comes with seven unique tips (including tips specific to orthodontic hardware, tongue cleaning, and plaque removal) and ten pressure settings. These customizable options ensure that no matter what kind of flossing task is required, the Waterpik will be able to rise to the challenge. The Waterpik even goes beyond flossing, with a second hydro-pulse massage mode mode allowing the user to clean their gums and improve gum circulation.

How User-Friendly is the Waterpik Aquarius Professional Water Flosser?

The Waterpik’s design was created with the user in mind – it even includes a 1-minute timer (with an alert at thirty seconds) to help users clean their teeth and gums effectively and for the appropriate amount of time. The Waterpik has a covered water reservoir with a 90-second capacity – more than is needed for a typical flossing session. 360-degree tip rotation ensures that you will be able to reach every corner of your mouth, and an easily accessed on/off switch on the body of the Waterpik itself gives the user complete control over its use. A three-year warranty is included with this purchase, guaranteeing a purchase free-of-worry.

How do customers feel about the Waterpik Aquarius Professional Water Flosser?

Criticisms of the Waterpik are few and far between. Certainly, at $79.99, you are paying a little bit more than the going rate (but don’t forget to check Amazon because you can usually get a MUCH better deal there). Some feel as though the primary difference between the older Ultra model and the new Waterpik Aquarius is the streamlined appearance of the Aquarius – something that is often quite important, as the Professional Water Flosser will probably be sitting out on your bathroom counter most of the time. Customers really appreciate how nice the updated Waterpik Aquarius looks, and the re-design also allows for some more practical modifications. For example, the lid flips up instead of needing to be completely removed, as it did in the Waterpik Ultra. This allows for easier access to the water tank, with less risk of a mess.

This compact model is incredibly non-obtrusive. It measures in with a slim footprint of 4 ¾” by 3 ¾”, with an extensive hose and is relatively quiet while operating. The water supply cord is also easily stored within the body of the machine, keeping your counters clear. It is easily cleaned with white vinegar and water, and this is only required once every month or so (although the tank should be emptied after every use in order to keep the reservoir and pumps as clean as possible). The streamlined design has led to a significant decrease in weight, but in doing so some of the Aquarius’ storage capabilities have been limited. While the older Ultra model allowed for all of the exchangeable tips to be stored in the unit, only two are able to be stored in the new Waterpik Aquarius.

The vast majority of those who use the Waterpik Aquarius are overwhelmingly happy with its primary purpose – its flossing capability. Glowing reviews abound as to the difference that the use of a professional water flosser have made in their daily mouth-care routines and yearly dental checkups. It is common for dentists and dental hygienists to remark on how improved their patients’ tooth and gum health is after they begin using the Waterpik Aquarius. It is also possible to use the Waterpik with your favourite mouthwash – an extra level of customization that can make your nighttime and morning routines that much smoother.

The timer is an excellent additional feature, as it gives users peace-of-mind regarding the quality of their teeth-cleaning session. Using an on/off switch (instead of a button) gives the user some extra security in knowing that they will not accidentally spray themselves or others by inadvertently turning the Waterpik on! Additionally, the ten different strength settings are easy to distinguish between, and allow new users to begin wherever is comfortable and slowly work up to the stronger settings.

Thankfully, the transition from a Waterpik Ultra to the Waterpik Aquarius Professional Water Flosser is a smooth one – the detachable heads from the Ultra fit easily on to the Aquarius and vice-versa. Make sure to read the easy-to-understand owner’s manual carefully – some of the features may not be immediately obvious, and you do not want to go without a single one of them.

ToiletTree Professional Rechargeable Oral Irrigator With High Capacity Water Tank Review (2015)

**OUR TOP PICK IN THE CORDLESS CATEGORY**

ToiletTree seems to be a company that is committed to continually improving their products.  The newest model (2015) gives customers Lithium Ion Batteries, an easy to fill water tank, a quieter motor, and a tip release button.  We were impressed with the 2013 version which added a larger water tank and free upgrades from the previous version.

>>Click Here to See Pricing, Ratings and Reviews on Amazon.com<<

Lithium Ion batteries are a great improvement over the Ni-Cad batteries of yesteryear.  The new Lithium Ion batteries are designed to last much longer and deliver more power than the previous version.  The unit also has a charging light to indicate the level of charge remaining.  There’s no published estimate on how much longer a charge will last, but this change will be a welcome improvement nonetheless.

The easy fill water tank will help for those situations where you just need more water, such as when you have bridges, implants, braces, or just want enjoy the feeling of extra clean teeth and gums.  Since it is a larger capacity tank, there will be fewer delays in maintaining the refreshing flow of water.  The easy fill water tank is designed with a wide opening at the back.  Pop it open, fill, and you’re back in business.

The third upgrade is a quieter motor.  The company estimates it is 68% quieter than before.  Another way to put it is that it’s less than a third as loud as before.  This should be a noticeable change from the previous model.  This change alone should make the new ToiletTree cordless water flosser a must try item.

Last on the list of improvements is a tip release button.  Previously, customers had to pull with considerable force to remove a cleaning tip.  Now, there’s a better way.  Press the tip release button, and the tip will slide out easily.  This is a great feature for couples who are sharing the same oral irrigator.

As before, the ToiletTree Oral Irrigator is a great way to promote overall dental health.  It is designed to get where toothbrushes and floss cannot reach — into the pockets below the gum line.  This alone may be useful in reducing bacteria levels which cause bad breath.  The ToiletTree can also dislodge trapped food between implants, bridges, or other dental appliances.

The three pressure settings: normal, soft, and pulse are adequate for most people.  If you want more options, you may want to upgrade to the Waterpik WP-660 Aquarius which has ten pressure settings.  The ToiletTree now comes in black and white color options.

It’s great to know that ToiletTree takes their customer service seriously and is constantly improving their products.  The overwhelming majority of the 1600+ reviews on Amazon are positive.  If the customers’ responses are any indication, this is a high quality product worth your consideration.  This is a unit that will not take up a lot of room, has many recent improvements, and will be perfect for your home and travel needs.

Waterpik WP72 Classic Professional Review

It seems like it doesn’t matter what you do – every year, when you go in for your annual dental checkup, the dental hygienist will chastise your flossing. Flossing is an essential part of oral hygiene, but it can also be very difficult to do correctly – especially with the classic string floss. While water flossers such as the Waterpik Classic Professional Water Flosser are not a replacement for string floss (the two mechanisms work quite differently when it comes to their methods of plaque and bacteria removal), they are incredibly effective at removing plaque. In fact, in three seconds of water flossing up to 99.9% of plaque is removed from the teeth and gums. At a very affordable price of $49.99 on Amazon, the Waterpik Classic Professional Water Flosser is a cost-effective dental tool that will help to maintain oral hygiene and prevent future oral health complications.

Who is the Waterpik Classic Professional Water Flosser intended for?

The Waterpik classic is a tool that can be used by everyone, regardless of their current dental health. However, it is of particular interest to those who have dental conditions that currently complicate their daily routines such as orthodontic interventions. As well, the Waterpik classic is set apart because it is designed with a specialty reservoir intended for antimicrobial rinses. These rinses are perfect for helping to combat gum disease or periodontal pockets, and can make a significant difference in treatment.

What are the health benefits of the Waterpik Classic Professional Water Flosser?

This device makes a significant difference in the amount of plaque removed during routine dental cleaning. The Waterpik Classic boasts an impressive three-fold increase in plaque removal around braces when compared to string floss alone. Similarly, clinical trials have demonstrated a significant increase in gum health around dental implants. The Waterpik Classic also works to make sure bacteria is removed from both teeth and the gumline. Waterpik really believes in their product – they offer a guarantee on users achieving healthier gums within 14 days of beginning to use this product regularly.

What sets the Waterpik Classic Professional Water Flosser Apart?

The design of the Waterpik Classic is perfect for those who do not want an overly fussy professional water flosser. This design has a high-volume reservoir that boasts a 90-second water capacity when set at the maximum level of water pressure. Six different settings allow the water pressure to be adjusted directly from the handle – making it efficient to switch between them depending on the area being cleaned. Three tips are included with purchase of the product, including two classic jet tips (so multiple people will be able to make use of this device) as well as a single Pik Pocket Tip which helps to target the water stream below the gumline in order to fight bacteria that is often missed by toothbrushes or string floss. The additional reservoir for antimicrobial rinses is another bonus feature that showcases Waterpik’s dedication to promoting excellent gum health. A two-year warranty is offered on the Waterpik Classic.

How User-Friendly is the Waterpik Classic Professional Water Flosser?

The Waterpik Classic offers considerably fewer options than many of the other water flossers currently available – there are only six power settings and three tips available. The inherent simplicity of this design, however, makes up for the fewer choices available, especially as it does not affect the quality of the Waterpik Classic’s cleaning ability. This model does offer 360 degree tip rotation, which ensures that all areas of the mouth can be cleaned, no matter how difficult they may be to access with string floss. Users can even use their favorite mouthwash instead of water in the reservoir, for an extra clean sensation. As well, the secondary reservoir specifically for antimicrobial rinses is an added bonus for those particularly concerned about an existing gum condition.

How do customers feel about the Waterpik Classic Professional Water Flosser?

Customers have had very few complaints about their experiences with the Waterpik Classic. Instead, reviews overflow with testimonies about the incredible differences that the Waterpik has made in their oral health through daily cleaning sessions. These comments are echoed especially by those with braces or dental implants.

The design of the Waterpik is angled more towards function than fashion although the unit is unassuming, and will blend in well on most bathroom counters. The larger reservoir is very useful for extended cleaning sessions, and has other unexpected benefits as well – many users enjoy that the larger reservoir can be inverted and placed over the rest of the unit, protecting it from dust or other contamination. Set up is easy, and a guide is included with the packaging to ensure that users do not have any difficulty using the product immediately after a short calibration. The unit is easy to clean and maintain, although it does not have a separate cover for the reservoir, so it is necessary to empty it after each use in order to prevent dust from landing in the water.

The only caveats that were expressed by users were quite minor – some found that the Waterpik Classic was slightly more noisy than they had anticipated, although they quickly adjusted to the volume. Others noted that the pause button on the handle could sometimes be difficult to fully depress, causing some water to continue to spray out.

Some users do find that they have had superior water flossers in the past in regards to sheer power, however they readily admit that the Waterpik Classic is a smaller-budget model, and that for the much-reduced price it offers excellent results. The ease of use of the Waterpik is also something that users are enamored with – there are no complications involved with using it.

These issues are minor, however, especially given the low price of this unit! User after user expressed their amazement at how effective the Waterpik classic was the first time they used it, and the improved health of their teeth and gums at their next dental appointment.

Philips Sonicare Healthywhite Review

There are a lot of different procedures and products that we are told we need to do or buy in order to ensure our health is maintained or improved. Unfortunately, many of these have unattainable price tags or time requirements, and we are forced to forfeit them at the cost of our health. One of the most time- and cost-effective methods to improve your health is simply by exchanging your current manual toothbrush for an electric one such as the Philips Sonicare Healthywhite. While you may think that exchanging a toothbrush is too simple a way to greatly improve your life, you would be mistaken! While the initial price of these models (suggested retail $119.99, although Amazon offers a greatly discounted price) may be a bit more than you would like to spend, you will be saving much more than that in reduced payments at the dentist’s and doctor’s offices!

Who is the Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite Intended For?

By switching to a Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite, most people will be able to see an immediate difference in their tooth and gum health. The HealthyWhite is not the most advanced electric toothbrush Philips has to offer. Instead, the HealthyWhite is a lower-budget option that still offers a fantastic cleaning experience for those who have decided that they do not need all the bells and whistles of some of the more advanced options. This model is designed for daily use, and targets specifically individuals who want to whiten their teeth, as it offers a specialized 30 seconds of a whitening cycle at the end of each brushing session. An additional mode is available for those who have sensitive teeth and gums. This product is not recommended for children or others who may have difficulty using it properly unless they are supervised by a caregiver.

What are the Health Benefits of the Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite?

The Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite electric toothbrush makes use of a special brushing motion – the toothbrush head moves back and forth in order to remove everyday stains in an efficient manner. By using an electric toothbrush, users are able to remove significantly more plaque than with a manual toothbrush. This, in turn, leads to improved tooth and gum health and can help to prevent future cavities or gum disease. The HealthyWhite specializes in tooth whitening – while not a health benefit, it is a cosmetic benefit that many may find attractive when purchasing an electric toothbrush.

What sets the Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite apart?

The Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite is an excellent mid-range electric toothbrush. Its handle features an ergonomic design which is lighter and vibrates less than comparable models. As well, the HealthyWhite offers two unique modes for brushing – the “clean” and “sensitive” modes are two-minute cycles that take care of plaque removal, while the “whiten” mode is a 30-second cycle intended for daily use that has demonstrated visible results in as little as two weeks. A two-year limited warranty is included with purchase.

How User-Friendly is the Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite?

A number of features are included in the Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite to ensure that users are able to use this model to its full potential. One of the best innovations that Philips has included with this model is the “Easy Start Mode”. This setting allows new users unfamiliar with the sensation of an electric toothbrush cleaning to gradually increase the power of the unit over fourteen days of use. Additionally, the toothbrush has an integrated Quadpacer timer that indicates with a short beep and pause when you should be moving on to the next quadrant (half in the “clean” mode) of your mouth in order to make brushing most effective. Two different HealthyWhite Brush Heads are included – a ProResults Standard Brush Head works to clean teeth and massage gums, while a ProResults Compact Brush Head can be used for focused cleaning in areas that are difficult to reach. These brush heads now utilise reminder bristles so that you never forget to buy new brush heads after three months of use.

How do Customers feel about the Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite?

Very few customers are dissatisfied with their purchase of a Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite. Most customers are overjoyed with the balance between value and features available – even though the price is less than many expected to pay, a basic purchase includes extras such as a plastic travel cap and travel case. Additionally, the design of the brush itself is lauded with praise – the handle has an easy and comfortable grip and the angled brush head enables the user to easily reach all areas of the mouth. The brush head is also smaller than the standard size of brush head that typically comes with electric toothbrushes, which is appreciated by many customers. No customers complained about the noise made by this model – some indicated that it was actually far quieter than they had been expecting!

The criticisms of this model are minimal – some users new to electric toothbrushes found it hard to get used to the Quadpacer timer, and to recognize when the shift in vibration indicating a new quadrant occurred. Others experienced some difficulty with the longevity of the product, but the two-year warranty was able to cover many of those issues. Finally, some felt that some of the functions were unnecessary and that their personal dental care routine did not require all of the options present on the Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite.

The three different modes available on the Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite all serve an obvious purpose, and it is easy to tell the difference between the different settings – there are no extraneous functions on this toothbrush. Most customers found that the toothbrush definitely had an impact on the cleanliness of their teeth, and even those that had used electric toothbrushes previously felt that the Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite followed through on its promise that it would give the user a brighter smile within two weeks.

H2Oral Irrigator Review

Having excellent oral hygiene is important, but it can also take a lot of work and commitment. This can seem daunting, and is often one of the reasons that people fail to follow through on their dentists’ recommendations to brush twice a day and floss almost as often. Adding another step to that routine can seem daunting, but the fact of the matter is that often just brushing and flossing is the bare minimum for ensuring continued tooth and gum health. New Water-based flossing methods are becoming more popular, but as an additional process it can be hard for some people to take the plunge and purchase one. The H2Oral Irrigator is unique, because it is a product that adds virtually no time to your morning or evening routine… because you use it while you are in the shower!

Who is the H2Oral Irrigator Intended For?

The H2Oral Irrigator is the perfect product for those without serious oral health issues who want to increase the results they get from their daily dental-care routine without significantly increasing the time it takes to do so. At only $22.95 (or less if you buy through Amazon), this irrigator is a cost-effective way to try out water-based floss mechanisms. Those with additional dental concerns or hoping for detailed cleaning of orthodontics may want to pass on this one, or use it in addition to a model that can be used in front of a mirror.

What are the health benefits of using the H2Oral Irrigator?

There are many health benefits associated with the increased plaque and bacteria removal facilitated by using water jet devices as part of a daily tooth-care regimen. By focusing the stream of water on the spaces between teeth and just below the gum line it is possible to reverse gingivitis and prevent gum disease and cavities. The convenience of this product makes it less likely for users to skip over its use in favor of “saving time” – and by performing this procedure regularly the health benefits are greatly increased.

What sets the H2Oral Irrigator Apart?

There’s no denying that the most impressive part of this product is its innovative design. After all, in a world obsessed with saving time wherever you can, the H2Oral Irrigator is a lifesaver! Unlike most other water jet devices, the H2Oral Irrigator does not require any electrical power (either wall outlet or batteries) in order to function. Likewise, it does not require any counter space or extensive cleaning. Instead, it attaches directly to any shower head, and utilizes the existing water pressure to function. Four separate heads with individual colors are included so that the entire family can maintain their tooth and gum health. A lifetime warranty promises demonstrates that the company is dedicated to their “satisfaction guaranteed” policy.

How User-Friendly is the H2Oral Irrigator?

Having an oral hygiene device in your shower might seem a little unorthodox, but the H2Oral Irrigator has been designed to ease your transition. The hose attaches to nearly any shower head, and the pick itself has a six foot long tube – making it incredibly versatile for use at any height. Installation itself involves only four steps, although some caution does need to be taken to ensure that the plastic attachment does not strip the threads of the shower pipe. This product also eliminates any concerns about the mess that can come with counter top water flossing products – any water that sprays around is contained within the shower and easily cleaned up. The hand held portion of the device has a nozzle to adjust the pressure of the water stream, so no matter the strength of your shower you will be able to easily adjust the stream coming into contact with your gums.

How do customers feel about the H2Oral Irrigator?

Reviews from those who have used the H2Oral Irrigator are overwhelmingly positive. The few cautionary suggestions come from those who had difficulty avoiding damage to the threads on their shower pipe/shower head, and others who warn that this product may not be as effective as the more expensive counter top models. From an aesthetic point of view, some do find that the brightly colored plastic nozzles are a bit juvenile for adult use. Lastly, some users did struggle with their individual shower systems due to incompatibilities with their shower head or household water pressure – but these problems were few and far between.

Aside from these few experiences, most users of the H2Oral Irrigator have found that it has greatly aided them as they attempt to improve or maintain their oral health and hygiene. For some, the practicality of having it directly in the shower where there is no need for additional clean-up or filling up reservoirs was revolutionary. Others love that it allows them to keep their bathroom counters clutter-free – especially helpful if the bathroom is one that guests use often.

Additionally, it can be very freeing to have a product that does not run off of electricity and that has only a few components to the entire mechanism. The likelihood of breaks in the body itself is very small, and given the H2Oral Irrigator’s low price and lifelong warranty, even in the event of a break the customer will not be left high and dry. This product is especially helpful when it comes to children, as they often find the fun of cleaning their teeth in the shower very motivating.

The H2Oral Irrigator is more than a novelty, however. Users find that using it for just a minute or two every day makes their mouths feel as clean as a trip to the dentist. Individuals with braces find that it easily dislodges food from behind brackets and wires. Many who have tried the H2Oral Irrigator report that their dentists and dental hygienists have noticed a change in gum health at their next appointment after beginning to use this model. Given the low price of this product, the ease with which it is installed, and the convenience of being able to use it while in the shower, this is one of the lowest-risk purchases for those interested in trying out a water-based flossing system.
